Sarah Pyle Academy is named for Sarah Webb Pyle. Pyle devoted over 50 years of her time and talents to the children of East Wilmington.

Welcome to Sarah Pyle Academy!
Sarah Pyle Academy is a non-traditional, blended learning, dropout prevention, flex model, personalized learning program that has helped hundreds of students in the Christina School District finish high school and prepare for a successful future.
In line with the Guiding Principles of the Superintendent's Performance Targets, this non-traditional learning environment will help accelerate achievement for those students who have been unable to attain success in the traditional high school environment.

Two Campuses
Sarah Pyle Academy has two campuses, one in Newark and one in Wilmington. Both campuses meet face to face, and will follow the SPA model of small class sizes, personalized learning, and extensive wrap-around supports for your students.

Student Led
Imagine a school where the student gets a say about what they learn, when they learn it, how they learn it and even in how they can demonstrate that they mastered their learning. A place where learning how to make smart choices is just as important as learning square roots and sentence structure.
SPA Students work smarter, not harder, by using the technology and the strategies that are best for your individual learning style. To compliment your academic experience, students have the flexibility to continue to work in their existing job experiences, or participate in college certification programs, cross-aged mentorship/leadership program, or career/aligned internship program.
SPA Digital Vision
SPA actively and routinely uses technology to access academic content, to effectively monitor and communicate student progress, memorialize student award ceremonies for future viewing, conduct/record professional development opportunities for staff and students, and to connect with teacher and staff during off shift hours via google hangouts and other electronic resources.
Students may participate in online content/curriculum platforms in goal attainment with approximately 60% of credits currently earned using Edgenuity, 20% other web based applications & interactive sites (ie. Khan Academy, Everfi, and other similar programs) and the remaining 20% Project Based Learning, traditional paper and pen or other personalized methods to demonstrate mastery of content. Each student's learning pathway is personalized based on their learning style and academic needs.
